Skip to main contentBiographyEarl Eder was born in Poplar, Montana, and was one of the 150 students selected for the Institute of American Indian Arts’ inaugural class of 1962. While a student, he was in a band with T.C. Cannon, Kevin Red Star, and Alfred Young Man (Cree artist, writer and educator). Upon graduation, Eder was given a scholarship to the San Francisco Institute of Art where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1970. A sculptor and painter, he is considered an instrumental artist in the 1960s Santa Fe contemporary Indian art movement.
